New Construction
New Victorian
On a Farm in Augusta County, a retired couple dreamed of building their retirement home, with a design based on a Queen Anne style house they clipped from a magazine decades before. To help them bring their list of dreams to reality was an absolute joy: a wrap-around porch, a turret, a tiny porch off the master bedroom facing the sunrise for morning coffee, not to mention space for their hobbies and for their kids and grandkids to gather. The finished product is actually a work in progress, as they complete the detailing and add elements as one of their countless retirement projects.
Fairfield Cottage
A new home steeped in the history of the architecture and places loved by its owner has a special meaning. Here, the owners came to Virginia from New Orleans, and found inspiration in the cottages they loved there.
Augusta Craftsman
Mountain views are the focus of this new home inspired by Craftsman style homes built around the country. Deep porches extend the living space outdoors; the open living areas are defined with unique ceiling treatments.
Marble Valley Colonial Revival
West of Staunton, on a large farm on the river, a large family was building their dream estate, complete with livestock operations, chickens, and a dairy cow. The design for the home included space for a school room in the spacious attic, a canning and butchering kitchen in the basement, and space for family gatherings in between. Colonial Revival detailing graces the exterior, while the interior is warm and bright with an open living space. Flanking garages create a welcoming courtyard space at the front of the home. At the rear, three stories of porches embrace the view.
